Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) is a research and development center well known in Europe and in the world. Its scope of interest includes grids, portals, new generation networks and their security. PSNC is also one of five Polish supercomputing centers founded to support the development of a research infrastructure for Polish science. Since its very beginning, the Supercomputing Center in Poznan has been one of the leading centers in Poland. It has been ranked on a prestigious list of the world most powerful computing infrastructures (TOP500) several times.

An important component of the PSNC research infrastructure is one of the most modern network in the world: PIONIER - Polish Optical Internet. PSNC participates in several significant domestic research projects (for instance, Polish Interactive TV) as well as in over 20 research and development project defined within the confines of EU Framework Programs.

PSNC was founded in 1993 and it is affiliated to the Institute of the Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences. PSNC is developing and growing dynamically. Currently it employs over 170 persons.
