New MIC tasks: interoperability, virtualization and HPC

16.02.2009. Microsoft Innovation Center in Poland does not have definitely established area of interest but it reacts on changing trends in the IT area. In 2009 we are going to address several new research areas.

The first half of the year will be devoted to interoperability - the facility of cooperating different technologies. MIC will be working on solutions that join disparate IT products in order to gain new, valuable technologies that will attract Polish enterpreneurs to promote innovations in their companies (and - thanks to that - in the whole Polish economy). Interoperability will be one of the main subjects of 3. Microsoft Innovation Center Conference. The concept of interoperability will also be reflected in our training program.

Another research area that MIC will concentrate on, is virtualization - - the solution that allows to cope with many efficiency and security problems. Microsoft Innovation Center will perform a research on using virtualization in key Data Center scenarions. The research will result in a report that will be introduced during the 3. MIC Conferencje (in April), as well as on the IDC Storage, Virtualization and Datacenter Efficiency Roadshow 2009 conference in Warsaw (in May).

One of the main activity areas of Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, the MIC project partner, is High Performance Computing (HPC). It will be reflected in our work as well. It is pleasant to infrom that PSNC has been invited by Microsoft to participate in a prestigious HPC TAP (Technology Adoption Partner) programme, that is concentrated on performing tests and establishing new functionality in HPC solutions.

The MIC training program will be extended, despite the fact that only 1 security training is scheduled for the first half of the year. On another hand, a series of lectures devoted to interoperability will be prepared. We will publish their description on our Trainings page soon.

More information on new MIC tasks may be found on our Tasks page.
